Temple Beth El is dedicated.
September 2, 1912
Architect: John Hasty. Also called the Fowler Street Synagogue, it is designed in the Neo-Classical style and located at 94 Fowler Street. It is the first synagogue in Dorchester. The congregation, originally Avath Achim, was established in 1908 and met at 80 Erie Street. It moves to Newton in 1967 [1965-Dhs], and the Fowler Street building is subsequently used as a church, then demolished to make way for construction of an affordable housing development in 1998.*
